The new relationship between the National Canal Museum and the D&L Heritage Corridor will enhance your membership benefits in both organizations.  Here are answers to the most frequently asked questions:

*          Whether a supporter of either the National Canal Museum or D&L membership benefits remain the same, and members gain all the benefits of activities and programs of the other. Check out www.delawareandlehigh.org or www.canals.org; subscribe to our email list, Facebook and Twitter feeds, and watch for our communications.

*          In the new structure, the Museum's archives, exhibits, education programs, and canal boat will be expanded with D&L resources and staff, as needed. In addition, Museum staff now will be available to serve other like-minded heritage partners in the region with their special needs. Call for an appointment.

*          D&L continues to operate its land conservation, trail initiatives, classroom education programs, plus its unique programming. Together, we're at the center of regional STEM and heritage education.  Like the Museum, D&L gains expanded resources and staff as needed. This becomes particularly valuable in corridor programs with our community partners.

*          Emrick Center in Hugh Moore Park is home base and offices for both organizations. It continues to serve the thousands of museum visitors, canal boat riders and Park users with exhibits, education programs and special events throughout the year. Canal Boat rides continue May through September; check www.canals.org for hours. We're looking forward to adding to the more than 553,884 passengers who have cruised the Lehigh Canal on the Josiah White.

*          Museum professionals maintain the artifacts and archival materials to ensure safe keeping of the collections and professional affiliations. More than 6,200 artifacts; 15,166 books; 300,000 photographic images; 31,824 engineering drawing drawings; 4,715 films, video cassettes, and audio tape oral histories; 12,150 linear feet of manuscript material, and 279 rolls of microfilm comprise the collection at this time. The merger provides additional curatorial support for our Smithsonian-affiliated and American Alliance of Museums (AAM) accredited museum.

*          Hugh Moore Park maintenance responsibilities, previously the responsibility of the Museum, are now managed by the City of Easton, which owns the Park. A major upgrade has begun!

Please, don't whisper down the canal!
