Weekly Summer Programs
 
1-1/2 to 2 hour programs at Hugh Moore Park (directions). Program fee: $8.00 for nonmembers / $6.00 for members.
 
June 4th, 2008 (Wednesday) - Blacksmithing
Learn all about blacksmithing and make an "S" hook.
 
June 11th, 2008 (Wednesday) - Animal Tracks
Find animal tracks at Hugh Moore Park and make some tracks to take home.
 
June 14th, 2008 (Saturday) - Birds at the Park
Hugh Moore Park is full of birds. Let's see what we can find and make a bird feeder.
 
June 18th, 2008 (Wednesday) - Archeology Day
There is a lot of stuff under the ground. Come dig for a while. This is a 3 hour program and will cost $16.00 per person.
 
June 21st, 2008 (Saturday) - Fishing (19th Century Style)
Use a pole and line to catch fish, make a fish print, and learn all about types of fish found in the Lehigh River.
 
June 25th, 2008 (Wednesday) - Canal Life
Harness a mule, wash clothes, and participate in other 19th century activities.
 
June 28th, 2008 (Saturday) - National Backyard Campout
Overnight campout at part with nature walks, campfires, s'mores, outdoor movies and crafts. This overnight program will cost $45 per person.
 
 
Tuesday History Programs
 
All programs are from 4:00 to 5:00 at Hugh Moore Park (Directions).  The cost is $5.00 per program. 
 
Jan. 15th, 2008 - Parlor Games 101:  What did 19th century kids do in the middle of the winter?  They didn't have Xbox or TV.  Come play different indoor games that kept children entertained for hours.
 
Feb. 19th - Say Cheese!:  Come see what old cameras look like and how pictures used to be taken.  Dress up and take a picture home.
 
March 18th: And 3 make Egg Roll: Dye your own Easter eggs and participate in an egg roll.
 
April 16th: Plant a spring herb garden: Come learn all the ways 19th century people used herbs and then plant and take home an herb garden.
 

 
Environmental Education Programs
 
Wildlands Conservancy and The National Canal Museum have teamed up to bring you Wildlands Environmental Education programming. All programs take place at Hugh Moore Park in The Emrick Technology Center.   Winter & Spring Family Program Calendar
 
 
Days Gone By - Girl Scout Program
 
Have you ever wondered what it was like living on the canal?  Visit a locktender's house on the Lehigh Canal and learn all about canal life.  Do laundry in a washtub, play old-time games, harness a mule (fiberglass), and make apple cider.
 
Available weekends and after-school September, October, May, & June; call to arrange a date and time.  Cost: $8.00 per girl
 
Taking this workshop will enable girls to earn/meet requirements for the following Girl Scout Badges: Try-It Listening to the Past, Local Folk Lore, Toymaker or History Hunt badges.
