Nature Programs
 
Animal Tracks
This program will familiarize children with the mamals, birds, and native animals to the Lehigh Valley.  The children will discuss how to recognize the signs that critters leave behind.  Each child will cast their own animal track and we will goon a nature walk to find animal tracks. (2nd grade and up) YEAR LONG   Cost: $8.00 per student
 
Cane Pole Fishing
Children will get the opportunity to learn basic fishing methods and safety.  Students will learn about the different species that call the Lehigh River home and make a fish print to take home. (3rd grade and up)  FALL & SPRING   Cost: $8.00 per student
 
Bird House Building
Birds are all around us and this program introduces children to the common birds or PA and NJ.  The students will discuss the differences of various bird species and they will get to build a bird house to take home. (2nd grade and up)  YEAR LONG Cost: $8.00 per student
 
Nature Moves and Music
Can you slither like a snake?  Hoot like an owl?  How about hop like a bunny?  Nature Moves & Music aquanits children with the sound and movement of nature.  Through creative play children will learn about the sounds found in nature and movements of animals. (Pre K- 1st) YEAR ROUND   Cost: $5.00 per student
 
 
History & Science Programs
 
Immersion Days is an all day program (9:00 to 1:30) that completely engages students.  Activities include Laundry/Mule harnessing; Simple Machines; Buoyancy; Blacksmithing.
Locktender’s House
Take a tour of the locktender’s house and discover what it was like to be a locktender’s family. The family who lived in the house next to the lock was in charge of opening the gates for every canal boat. Women and children were often the people opening and closing the lock gates. Additional activities include old-fashioned laundry and 19th century games FALL & SPRING Cost: $5 per student
 
Lehigh Valley Silk Industry
The Lehigh Valley at one time had the most silk mills in the nation. Learn about the  history of silk mills, labor, and the industrial revolution. Each student will get to hand spin cotton into thread and try their hand at weaving. OCT to MARCH Cost: $8.00   This program can be done at your school.
 
Mini Immersion Days
Mini Immersion Days is a shorter version of the all day Immersion Days program  FALL Price: $6 per student / Minimum of 20 students  Please chose which session you would like to attend Session #1 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. or Session #2 Noon to 2 p.m. Activities include blacksmithing-restricted to children 8 years old and older, laundry, mule harnessing, and old time games
 
Geothermal
Come learn about geothermal energy at the most unlikely of places. The Emrick Technology Center has a geothermal heat pump keeping the building warm in winter and cool in summer. Come see how this works and make a geothermal project. OCT. to MARCH  Cost: $6.00 per student
